FREE! The Remarkable Royal Air Force Museum

Boasting a remarkable collection of aircrafts spanning over 100 years of aviation history, this museum has an impressive number of aircrafts to view ranging from monoplanes to boatplanes, WW1 triplanes to WW2 bombers, fighter jets to gliders - this free museum has them all. The spacious and well presented hangars allow you to really get up close and personal to the vast collection. There is also a great hands-on interactive gallery where kids can get to grips with experiments demonstrating how aircrafts work. For a small charge you can also take a ride in a flight simulator or experience a 4D film with the Red Arrows. There are a few opportunities for you to sit inside an aircraft but you'll need to part with a little more cash to sit in their Spitfire (a must for any enthusiasts!). But in all honesty, you needn't spend anything because there is more than enough to see without all the little extras. As a special treat on selected dates over the Easter holidays 2017, you can even enjoy a free Birds of Prey display. Whilst there is a fair bit of relandscaping work going on externally around the site (in preparation for the RAF Centenary celebrations in 2018), this doesn't distract from the exhibits although the car park has been compromised so parking is limited. A small note about parking, I would recommend paying £4 for 6 hours rather than £3 for 3 hours as you will definitely want to spend longer than 3 hours here so you can take your time to make sure you see everything...or alternatively of course...make use of good ol' London Transport! On the same money-saving-tip note, make sure you take a packed lunch as although there is an adequate cafe, it is a little dear. This museum, in my opinion, is one of London's best free museums and I would definitely recommend a visit.
