CHEAP! Canoeing on Osterley Lake

Ticking off no. 50 on the National Trust's '50 things to do before you're 11¾' - canoeing! Ok so the list actually says to 'canoe down a river' but we did it on a lake...the beautiful and serene Middle Lake in Osterley Park to be precise. For £5 per person, you can jump in a canoe made for 1, 2 or 3 people, suit yourself up with a life jacket, get a briefing from an instructor and have yourself 45 minutes on the lake to master your canoeing skills. The kids were a little apprehensive to begin with, as we wobbled along getting to grips with it and we visited the foliage along the edges of the lake a fair few times but we were soon in our element and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was such a gorgeous day that we spent the next 5 hours playing and soaking up the rays in the wonderful park too. We'll definitely be back again soon! Check out the listings on Sundays in August for further details x
