FREE! A glimpse of Neverland (aka Princess Diana Memorial Playground)

The sun has got his hat on...hip hip hip hooray! After months of bleak weather, the sun has finally come out to play so where better to entertain the kids in this wonderful weather than at the wonderful Princess Diana Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens. This isn't the first time we have been to this Peter Pan themed playground and it certainly won't be the last...my kids LOVE it here. First and foremost there is a massive sand play area and in the warmer months the water streams and fountains are switched on which make it a great sand and water park. Set in the middle of the massive sandpit is a giant pirate ship for children to climb on and explore. There's an under 3's play area, larger adventure playgrond for older kids, a sensory trail with interactive musical 'instruments', three large teepees and totem poles, lots of hidden nooks to discover with various play equipment, toilets and cafe. Bring with you - a packed lunch (especially drinks), a mat or something to sit on (there are benches but not a great deal so you'd be better off on the grassy areas), a change of clothes for the kids (and you if plan on getting involved), towel and a bucket and spade! The whole playground is fenced and gated so whilst I wouldn't recommend leaving your children unsupervised, you know that they can play safely without wandering out! On the note of safety, no adults are allowed entry without accompanying a child; dogs, bikes and scooters are also prohibited and in busier periods, the management operate a 'one in-one out' queuing system so that the area doesn't get too crowded. This is great if you're on the inside but if you're on the outside waiting to come in, you could be standing in the queue for up to an hour. As it is completey free to enter, this is an incredibly popular destination so plan to get there early to avoid disappointment. Once you're in however, you'll definitely not be disappointed.
